What To Do After a Hail Storm?

7 Tips to Choosing a Roofing Contractor After a Storm

If there is golf ball sized hail in your area, companies from all over will be rushing to speak with you. But the question is, how to choose the right company? Well, here I will lay out 7 tips on choosing a roofing contractor after a storm.

1. Stay Local

Stay Local so your warranties can be served in a timely fashion.

2. Registrar of Contractors

Check with the ROC for proper licensing.

3. Liability and Workmen’s Comp

Check to see that contractor’s liability and worker’s compensation insurance are current

4. Any Present Leaks

Check any water intrusion and tell your contractor immediately.

Any emergency repairs, if needed, will be covered by your insurance.

5. Check Credentials online with your local

Better Business Bureau

It’s important to know how well customers value the work your contractor is doing.

6. Adjuster’s Appointment

Make sure you give the contractor the insurance adjuster’s appointment time and name so they can be there to meet them on your behalf. This way, no items needing repair will be overlooked.

You can find out more on this process right here.

7. FREE Inspections

Lastly, do not pay for any inspections, either personally or from your insurance proceeds. Roofing companies offer this service FREE of charge. If you are being charged, then they are independent adjusters, not contractors. This service is already included through your insurance company at no charge to you.
